Understanding Air Pollution
Air pollution is the presence of one or more physical substance, chemical, or biological in the atmosphere in amounts that can endanger the health of living things, disturbing the aesthetics and comfort, or property damage.
Air pollution is the inclusion, or mixing hazardous elements into the atmosphere which may result in environmental damage, disruption of general human health and degrade the quality of the environment.

Classification of Air Pollutants:
1. Primary Pollutant: pollutant that caused directly from the source of air pollution.
2. Secondary pollutants: pollutant that is formed from the reaction of primary pollutants in the atmosphere.
Example: Sulfur dioxide, sulfur monoxide and water vapor will produce sulfuric acid.

- Carbon monoxide (CO)
- Nitrogen dioxide (N02)
- Sulfur Dioxide (S02)
- CFC
- Carbon dioxide (CO2)
- Ozone (03)
- Objects Particulates (PM)

- Hydrocarbon (HC)
Main Causes Air Pollution:
In the big city is very difficult to get fresh air, an estimated 70% of the pollution that occurs is due to a motor vehicle.
Example: in Jakarta between the years 1993-1997 an increase in the number of vehicles in the form of:
- Motorcycle 207%
- Passenger cars 177%
- Cars goods 176%
- Bus 138%

Impact of Air Pollution:
- Ozone Depletion
- Global Warming (Global Warming)
- Respiratory disease, eg heart, lungs and throat
- Disruption of reproductive function
- Stress and declining productivity

+ Clean Air Act made by the government and increase taxes on industries that pollute the air.
+ Developing environmentally friendly technologies and renewable such as Fuel Cell and Solar Cell.
+ Save Energy used.
